The Story of Blue Sky Farms, Home of K9 Country Inn
Blue Sky Farms began in 2000 when Jeannine Foster made the decision to leave her corporate career and pursue a lifelong passion for working with animals. With the support of her family, she and her husband purchased the farm. Over the next few years, the dream grew into reality and in 2003 Blue Sky Farms was born.
The goal was to be able to provide a safe, loving environment, in a beautiful country setting, where pet owners could feel comfortable and confident in leaving their pets in their care. Now, over the past two decades Blue Sky Farms, Home of the K9 Country Inn has become a trusted home for many families and their pets. A home away from home.
In 2025, Jeannine and Dan decided it was time to retire and The Inn welcomed a new family to the property. With a lot of excitement and grateful hearts, the Gettier family are now continuing the legacy the Fosters built.
Kelly Gettier has been a life-long animal lover. From a young age growing up on a farm in the Deep Creek area of Chesapeake, working at veterinarian practices, to then working in healthcare for the past 20+ years, helping others and animals have always been a major part of her life making this transition a natural one for her. She looks forward to personally meeting each family that comes through the door!
The philosophy at Blue Sky is treat each dog as it's part of our own family. We understand that boarding can be stressful, both for families and their pets. We work to understand each pet's unique personality while providing the care and kindness we would want for own pets.
The kennel was built to be as home-like as possible inside. The dog play yards have many fun things to offer; summertime splash pool, a tunnel, toys (lots of balls!), and a tetherball to name a few. There are also wooded walking trails that come out to a beautiful, canopied meadow. We always separate dogs into appropriate playgroups according to size, social abilities, and activity levels.
